Will I have a passive income before the end of the year?
A few days ago I celebrated the 6 month mark of the project. By celebrated I mean that I had a couple of days away from my computer. Is it possible for me to have a low maintenance income by December 12th? I think so! Is it a clear path? No, but I am determined to give it my best shot.
I am in a very reflective mood and this blog will fill you in on the life that is Serena during the last 6 months.
Working
2010 has been a year of getting things done. There is nothing like a public commitment to get you inspired to take action! Writing blogs for this site and for Grassroots has been fun but time consuming and very recently my lovely husband showed me how to add a bit of structure to my blogs, all of a sudden I am knocking a few hours off each one.
Juggling
One thing that keeps me busy is that I get ridiculously excited about all sorts of things that cross my path. If you have ever read Refuse to Choose by Barbara Sher you would recognise me as a plate spinning scanner, someone who loves to juggle many projects at once. Many people tell me that I should focus on one thing, and I understand that that would be smart for many people! I have tried it and it doesn’t work for me, I start to feel unfulfilled. My role as business coach is so perfect for me because I get to work with people in multiple industries each with different needs and challenges.
I do a whole lot of completely random things on a regular basis like DJing at Lounge Bar, hosting the Live Peep Show weekly on Bondi FM, getting The Live Peep Show website up and happening, helping Children’s Promise with getting started and lately I have been doing a bit of hair modelling!
Balance
I have a voracious energy for making stuff happen, and time always seems to slip away long before I am ready to sleep! I used to feel naughty if I worked until 3am (old corporate conditioning) but in the last few months I have simply surrendered to the fact that I am a night owl and I don’t make appointments before 11am. My version of balance at the moment with pressed time consists of irregular meditation, regular Masterchef, a good night’s sleep most nights, playing guitar, taking time to make nutritious meals and participation in a seminar on lifestyle design. I vow to add regular fitness to this list, that one has been elusive since Feb oops!
Business
I spent some time recently reflecting on the business and realised that we now have laid the foundation and I am ready to bring a guru into the mix in regards to affiliate sales and conversions etc. With this in mind I have approached someone who I have huge respect for in this space. Cross your fingers for me that he is keen to get involved! I will dedicate some time each day now for expanding my knowledge and experience in this area.
Mindset
I was reminded why I am in business in the last week. I tend to get caught up in the day to day doing and forget the outcome that I am trying to achieve. I have a feeling that I am not alone in this! I wrote a blog on Grassroots about this called does your business fulfil your lifestyle goals and a few people have spoken to me about this since. So I will declare it here lest I forget again! I am committed to creating a lifestyle where I can travel the world, spend more time with my family and use my skills to make a difference to people and the environment. Here is a list of projects that inspire me.
Well that is what 2010 has looked like for me so far! I am excited to see what will happen in the next 6 months! Watch this space!

Hi there Serena,
I’ve only had the opportunity to read a handful of your blog posts, but they inspire the imagination at the very least. I must confess though, I’m still none the wiser on exactly *how* you intend to have a residual income stream at the end of the year… should I just be browsing through more of your posts, or is that not yet articulated on the site? I’m guessing it’s something related to Google advertising hanging off the back of a high-traffic site which delivers interesting content, or have I jumped to conclusions here?
(And thanks also for connecting on Twitter – I’m enjoying our occasional ‘interactions’!)
All the best, I’m going to continue following with interest…

Hey Philip,
Hehe yeah I have mentioned it before but probably not often enough recently : ) I am open to creating income from any means!! But so far we have focused on the production and sale of useful digital products like eCourses and eBooks and outsourcing recommended services. We are also now adding affiliate links, referral marketing and are thinking doing some webinars so that we can have some personal interaction.
Thanks for getting in touch!
Serena : )
