The team meets… (for the 2nd time)
Mel came to Sydney on Thursday. It is only the second time we have caught up and it was good to have a proper conversation and also to introduce her to Tess. We reviewed ideas over Japanese food and wine and put together the plans for the next few weeks.
One concern we have is that while our product will eliminate many of the problems that people face when creating their first website, most people will not understand that they will have these problems until after they have gone through the pain!
How do we get people to realise the value of the product before they get started?
We started to consider which organisations were in a position to educate our potential customers on the value of our course and resources. A few weeks back I met with a provider of business start up training and the response was very good. So we have made that a priority once again and I will make up some flyers for them to email to their participants.
Although I have been a little slack on getting things done, we have been really consistent with the content on the site (2 blogs per week), and we are just starting to get good comments on the blogs and content. I noticed that a large amount of traffic is coming from Linked in and Twitter. Twitter is the bomb!!! I firmly believe that it is really one of the most powerful resources available on the web for a start up company… and best of all it is free! I have written a few blogs recently on the subject, I am so enamoured!
In the last 6 weeks we have had 301 unique visitors, visiting 650 times and staying an average of 6 minutes. The marketing so far has consisted of a combination of email marketing, our business newsletters, Google Adwords, using social media like Facebook, Twitter and Linked In and the blog itself which people receive through RSS feed. Some of the groups that visit are spending an average of 16-17 minutes on the site and reading loads of pages!
This all seems like good progress and we are now starting to plan to write the next two products in the series… I haven’t figured out how to comfortably work from the beach yet, but I am sure it must be possible!

Yes it has been pretty exciting and my business partner Mel recently showed me the website grader which is a little dangerous but happy to see the sites are doing ok!
