How to promote your new website – the marketing buzz!
It is now 5 and a half months since we set up Grassroots Internet Strategy and at the moment we have approximately 900 visitors per month and growing steadily. We are pretty happy with the growth so far as it is a highly competitive industry, but we can always do better! We have been promoting the website in various ways and I will share them with you here.
Social Media Marketing
My favourite! We use a few different social networking applications to promote the website, including a Facebook page and Facebook group, a Twitter account and a Linked In Group. We post blogs, links and useful information and encourage people to interact with each other and to visit our website for more information. We use Facebook and Linked In for conversations and discussions and Twitter to encourage visitors to our website.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
This is Mel’s forte and we are getting lots of organic traffic for various search terms. We use SEO on the website itself as well as in every post and on every page. We have started using a great tool called Market Samurai for all of our keyword research which is great for getting power information that helps you get the most out of your SEO efforts. If you want more information on SEO check out my blog Why You Need Kick Ass SEO!
Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
We have just started playing with Google Adwords, mainly to promote our new Twitter E-Book. This e-book is getting good reviews and so it’s important we keep the traffic coming so that we can tweak our sales information, and continuously improve our conversion rates.
Networking
We use plenty of personal interactions to promote our business; this includes networking events, free workshops, conversations with our clients for SEO, social media and business coaching. We package our products with our services and share the Grassroots love at every opportunity.
Advertising
While we have not gone out of our way to advertise our website, we have a couple of lovely organisations who advertise us in return for other services. We are looking currently to produce small business resource postcards that we will leave with every business owner we come across.
Affiliate Marketing
We have an affiliate program that offers people who have an appropriate database or customer base 30% for all sales they generate through our website. We are currently looking at ways to love and cherish our affiliates and keep them keen and making money!
PR
This is something new for us, we now feel that we are starting to get have recently partnered with Phillipa Lowe from Publicity Express, who Mel saw speak at an event in Melbourne. We are about to start implementing a plan for PR that looks pretty damn exciting and Phil is exactly what we have been looking for with years of experience and success in promoting small business. I am really looking forward to seeing the results of these next steps and I will keep you posted!
That covers many of the main ways we are promoting the website and our products, we have recently regrouped with the lovely Tess and are redesigning our look and feel as well as the structure of the website. It is a constant work in progress and we do what we can when we have the time, stay tuned for more goodies as they happen! If you can think of any ways that we simply must be marketing our business please let me know!
