Hi, I am Serena!
I am a 32 year old Kiwi travelling the world and life is pretty sweet!
I fund my lifestyle through my websites and while I am not rich, I have a freedom that I never thought possible until I discovered the opportunities available through blogging.
As well as my blogs I am working on a passion project Five Point Five and as an ambassador for World Vision, currently filming mini doco’s in Latin America.
My career in IT sales abruptly ended when I decided to pursue my dreams of making a difference in the world. I was keen and green with a sense that anything was possible. I loved every moment of the freedom of the pursuit of not-for-profits, charities and socially responsible businesses, and I made up for my lack of experience with unrelenting enthusiasm.
As it turned out my experiences over time and passion for helping get people moving gave me the perfect grounding for business coaching and I had found my forte.
Late in 2009 I was ready for the next challenge. In my work with small business owners I found that many common problems my clients faced were with their websites.
I lucked upon the perfect business partner who possessed complementary skills and Grassroots Internet Strategy was born. A website packed full of great information, courses and resources designed to help any small business owner understand what they need to know to have more success online.
A fresh website project was a great opportunity to put all that we knew into practice and I decided to take on a personal challenge to blog the progress of the website. If I was going to do a lot of work to create a new business I was going to make it worth my while and aimed to create a sustainable, low maintenance income over 12 months.
So December 2009 saw the launch of both Grassroots Internet Strategy and this blog.
Sometime in 2010 I was approached by John Wiley and Sons to produce a book on the journey and “How to Retire in 12 Months” was released in early April 2011, and is now a best seller.
If you are new to the blog start here.
I blog weekly (please subscribe on the right or below) and you can find me on both Facebook and Twitter.
I seldom hold courses any more due to unreliable internet while travelling. But there is a course scheduled for January 2013! Get your place!
