Who am I?!

My successful career in IT sales abruptly ended when I decided to quit after 9 years and pursue my dreams of making a difference in the world.  I was keen and green with a sense that anything was possible.  I loved every moment of the freedom of the pursuit of not-for-profits, charities and socially responsible businesses, and I made up for my lack of experience with unrelenting enthusiasm.

As it turned out my numerous experiences over time and passion for helping get people moving gave me the perfect grounding for business coaching and I had found my forte.

Late in 2009 I was ready for the next challenge.  In my work with small business owners I found that many common problems my clients faced were around their websites.  For many of them getting results from their website was like traversing a glacier blindfolded.

I lucked upon the perfect business partner who possessed complementary skills and Grassroots Internet Strategy was born.  A website packed full of great information, courses and resources designed to help any small business owner understand what they need to know to have more success online.

A fresh website project was a great opportunity to put all that we knew into practise and I decided to take on a personal challenge to blog the progress of the website.  I decided that if I was going to do a lot of work to create a new business I was going to make it worth my while and aim to create a sustainable low maintenance income over 12 months.

So December 2009 saw the launch of both Grassroots Internet Strategy and this blog.

Sometime in 2010 I was approached by John Wiley and Sons to produce a book on the journey and “How to Retire in 12 Months” was released in early April 2011.

My plans are to leave Australia later this year for some extended travel and new adventures.

I blog about once a week, and you can find me on both Facebook and Twitter.
