2011 is here… ready or not!
I was reading Adam Bakers blog Man vs Debt a couple of weeks back and he mentioned that 2010 for him was the year of Confidence. It got me thinking, what will 2011 be for me?
My goal last year was to retire in 12 months… and boy did I work hard! It was a mammoth task to create what we have created and I was in complete work mode every moment of every day. Then for much of the last 6 months with the book deadline, I barely left the house – just typing away frenetically with mental breaks to watch crappy daytime TV (sad I know!).
But now suddenly a new year is here, January is nearly over and being the calculated type, I am craving a new plan and a new motivation.
Don’t get me wrong; I am loving the daily beach time, cooking time and getting back on the fitness wagon. I am also enjoying reconnecting with the friends and clients that I was too busy for when I was writing.
So I have been indulging in the question… what will 2011 hold for me?
On Thursday last week I woke up far too early and in a croaky morning voice said: “2011 will be my year of expansion”.
I often think of the saying “if you are not expanding, you are contracting” I like the fact that you can go one of two ways in any situation and for 2011 I choose expansion!
I am working on the expansion of my passions like writing, playing guitar and cooking, the reach and effectiveness of the websites, of travel, fitness and my ability to impact some of the things that are important to me in the areas of community and the environment.
My focus for this website has changed, and in the very near future it will be getting an upgrade in preparation for the book launch (early April). Then to add to that I am making a huge life change, packing up and leaving Australia later in the year for a travel adventure…
So, I wanted to ask you dear reader what you would like to see from this blog? I have a few questions…
- Would you be happy for me to add to my general business related repertoire with the things that I learn in the fulfilment of lifestyle?
- Would you mind if I also posted on the topics of food, music, adventure, social change and the environment?
- What would make you happy? (Ok I just threw this in, out of curiosity!)
Well that is about it for me! I would really like to hear your thoughts on what you would like to see as I redesign the website. There will be a few changes over the next few weeks so please bear with me while I get it all together.
Thanks!

Serena,
As far as your questions go, I’m of the opinion that blogs of successful entrepreneurs and anybody attempting to extend themselves should contain content from all areas of their lives – since those areas create who they are and everyone can learn something that way. So, bring on the posts about whatever you care about!
What would make me happy? I’m always keen to find out who it is that inspires other people to do what they do and become who they are. What drives you to do what you are doing?
Here’s to a supersonic year of expansion!
Tim

Hey Tim, thanks for taking the time to respond, I can see a blog post in your questions already! What inspires me is for people to see that anything is possible despite their circumstances. I am not sure yet how that will translate on this website, but it certainly lights my fire! : )

I vote for you doing what makes you happy! Your daily ways of integrating joy and priorities will inspire others in many meaningful ways. Doing anything other than that might make it like ‘swimming against the tide’. You have great goals and mentoring ‘staying on task’ is another great takeaway from your sharing your process.
Sending you joy and blessings always…Marta

Sex and drugs I always find interesting to talk about, but you’ve been doing great so far, so keep going in the general direction you have been – good luck!!

Hi Selena,
Tess
I’m just feeling happy right now that your posts haven’t stopped at the end of the ‘retire young’ year. Has been enjoyable and inspiring to read your post right now and I am also happy to read whatever else you want to put in there – I trust you! Go well for this year. Heaps of good wishes,

Thanks for the vote of confidence Tess!

Hello and sorry about the delay… I had soooo many boring computer issues… now, in my view you should do what you think is appropriate and follow your instincts re content for this blog. Your style is personal and engaging anyway so I can’t see any harm in including lifestyle fullfilment deliberations…
I would love to read more about social change and the environment of course – and the rest.
And it is the simple things that make me happy – going for a swim this morning in the ocean pool and being tossed around by waves. Getting a smile from a total stranger and other random acts of kindness. And having a sense of purpose by doing things for others (all creatures/plants not just people…)
Looking forward to reading about your adventures!
